The debut feature Between Two Dawns, written and directed by Turkish filmmaker Selman Nacar, has its world premiere in the New Directors section of the San Sebastian International Film Festival. The co-producer of the film, Oana Giurgiu, will take part in the gala screenings on September 18 and 19, 2021.
Shot by Romanian director of photography Tudor Panduru (Malmkrog, Întregalde), Between Two Dawns takes place over less than 24 hours. After a worker is severely injured in their family business, Kadir is forced into making a moral decision, which will have an impact on his dreams, his family and the life of the injured worker’s wife.
In the development stage, the projects has been awarded in the Transilvania Pitch Stop program at the Transilvania IFF 2019, winning post-production services offered by Chainsaw Europe, worth 25,000 euros. In 2020, in the post-production phase, the film won the WIP Europa Industry Award at San Sebastian IFF, as well as the Anadolu Efes Award in the co-production market of the Istanbul Film Festival, Meetings on the Bridge.

Selman Nacar studied an MFA Film in Directing at Columbia University in New York and taught a fiction filmmaking course at the same university. He has written and directed five short films, recipients of awards at many international film festivals. He co-produced The Pillar of Salt, 2018 and produced Belonging, 2019, both directed by Burak Cevic and premiered in the Forum Section of Berlin Film Festival. He also participated in the Berlinale Talents 2019 and First Films First 2020. Between Two Dawns is his first feature film and he is currently working on his second, Lacuna.
